Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The selectee has responsibility to provide supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique supply items. The selectee has responsibility for performing technical supply support related duties. Performing tasks concerned with the receipt, storage, issue, and replenishment of a wide variety of supplies for Coast Guard units. Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include: Being responsible for stock level based usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion. Monitoring the stock exception listing making additions, changes, or deletions to excess, requisitioning, shipment, and/or issue exception codes. Conducting extensive and exhaustive research of catalog information to locate more cost effective, available substitutes and new products. Identifying potential discrepancies, resolves those which involve special program requirements for urgent, critical shortage items requiring specialized procedures and efforts. Extracting specific information from databases needed to perform assigned tasks. Responding to visitor and telephone inquiries on supply problems and issues. Maintaining and annotating files with minimal errors providing for easy and timely retrieval/location of material. Travel Required Occasional travel - This position requires occasional travel. Supervisory status No Promotion Potential 06 Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. This includes Time-In-Grade requirements for current status employees applying through merit promotion procedures. Status applicants applying for a promotion must have 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade. Qualifications AT THE GS-06 GRADE LEVEL: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: maintaining inventory of supplies/equipment within Federal supply systems operations; performing a supply system operations (e.g., records management functions in inventory, storage, and receipt and control processes; performing inventory-related work using an automated supply system. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.
