Honeywell Aerospace Clearwater is seeking a Senior Materials Technician to support the analytical lab activities within the Clearwater Materials Engineering organization. This is a challenging, multi-dimensional role that requires the individual to multi-task across several concurrent activities and assignments and be able to effectively function in an environment where the work assignments are ever-changing.

The Sr Materials Technician role focuses on hands-on operation of a wide variety of analytical equipment to support both receiving inspection testing of production materials as well as engineering evaluations and failure analysis. The primary work assignment will be in the XRF lab, performing screening of metallic components for prohibited materials, but the candidate may also support Polymers, Plating and Fluids labs on an as-needed basis. The candidate will interface with Lead Technicians and Lab Work Directors, as well as personnel from other organizations. It is expected that the ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to schedule activities with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with a wide variety of analytical instruments and techniques. Special consideration will be given to expertise in XRF, Metallography, and Polymer's testing. Other desired areas of expertise include Mechanical Aptitude, Electroplating Processes, Chemistry, FTIR, and Rotary Evaporators. The candidate should have the ability to be trained and perform as a back-up in multiple lab areas and maintain currency in their skills to allow for seamless movement of personnel between laboratories to support changing workloads and priorities. YOU MUST HAVE

• High School Diploma
• US Citizen due to contractual requirements
• Minimum 2 years lab experience and hands-on operation of analytical instruments such as XRF, DSC, TGA, FTIR, Metallographs, IC, GC/MS, etc. WE VALUE
  • Hands-on experience with XRF for material identification
  • Experience with aerospace materials & processes
  • Broad-based background of experience in various analytical processes/labs
  • Ability to interface with Honeywell Production and Engineering customers and consistently meet customer requested commitments on all work
  • Ability to cope with a high demand environment where priorities change frequently, and many jobs are being worked at the same time
  • Ability to seamlessly move from one lab area to another to support changing business needs
  • Awareness of safe laboratory practices, including proper procedures for handling, storage and disposal of strong acids, bases, volatile solvents, toxic chemicals; and an understanding of their hazards
  • Ability to interface with engineering personnel to resolve technical issues. Must be able to clearly articulate in verbal and written communication the technical concepts related to lab work and failure analysis Additional Information
