Harrison Avenue, Clearwater, FL 33756 ** ONLY PINELLAS COUNTY GOVERNMENT PERMANENT & PROBATIONARY UNIFIED PERSONNEL SYSTEM EMPLOYEES MAY APPLY ** This position is responsible for reviewing, submitting and processing stuck and faulty meter adjustments. This position is responsible for meter read corrections; over read, under read or estimated readings. This position is one which has a high-volume workload that must be completed timely and accurately within a fast-paced, high stress environment. The position is responsible for timely communication with our customers. An incumbent in this class requires a high degree of communication skills, organizational skills, reporting capabilities and attention to detail. Other duties may be assigned, however the primary focus of this position is performance of account adjustments, meter read corrections, and supported activities. Position Specific Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in government accounting, bookkeeping, purchasing, or finance support and practical use of computer equipment; or
  • An Associate's degree (or two years of other related college level education) in accounting, business administration, or related field and practical use of computer equipment; or
  • A Bachelor's or higher-level degree in accounting, business administration, or related field and practical use of computer equipment
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Highly Desirable
    • Ability to learn quickly. Demonstrates ability to quickly and proficiently understand and absorb new information.
    • Ability to complete a high-volume workload in a fast-paced, high stress environment.
    • Ability to multi-task; ensuring work is completed no later than the due date.
    • Ability to pay attention to detail; not being overwhelmed by large amounts of information.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (orally and written).
    • Ability to listen attentively; ensuring that information is understood by all parties; shares information in a timely manner.
    • Ability to work with the customer, listening to their issue and providing an amicable solution in a manner that aligns with policies.
    • Ability to make and take responsibilities for decisions; ensuring they are made based on policies, rules and organizational directive. Illustrative Tasks (These are examples and are not all inclusive.)
      • Review and complete stuck/faulty meter adjustments within 24 hours of notification.
      • Review and complete over/under/estimated read adjustments within 24 hours of notification.
      • Complete submittals with an accuracy ratio between 99-100%.
      • Provide customers status updates within 48 hours of notification.
      • Perform related work as assigned or required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
        • Knowledge of the principles of government accounting and record keeping procedures pertinent to the area of assignment.
        • Knowledge of local, federal, and state regulations, utility rules, and ordinances and procedures as they relate to customer accounts.
        • Knowledge of customer service terminology, grammar, spelling, math, and bookkeeping methods.
        • Knowledge of basic accounts receivable and accounts payable business practices and procedures including accounting systems, procedures, regulations, and source documents including expenditure, revenue, general ledger, and related accounting procedures and the interrelationship of internal and external record keeping systems and general bookkeeping, accounting, and audit methodology, terminology, and standards.
        • Skilled in the application of quality customer service.
        • Skilled in the operation of automated office equipment.
        • Skilled in the use of computer applications and software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, SAP
        • Ability to grow your knowledge from Novice to Advanced Beginner, by increasing your understanding of the intricacies of S4 Hana within 3 months.
        • Ability to grow your knowledge from Novice to Advanced Beginner, by increasing your understanding of Collection Strategies and negative impacts your action or inaction may have to customer accounts within 3 months.
        • Ability to grow your knowledge from Novice to Advanced Beginner, by increasing your understanding of the intricacies of the billing process within 3 months.
        • Ability to use software such as word, excel, outlook, adobe
        • Ability to make and apply decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, ordinances, and procedures.
        • Ability to analyze accounts, perform computations, determine amounts due and responsible parties and prepare related correspondence and documents.
        • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, and to communicate effectively with internal and external
        • departments, customers and agencies on often controversial issues.
        • Ability to analyze data and take appropriate actions in a high volume, customer service-oriented environment.
