Healthcare BI Developer

Position Summary:

If you were to be in this role, your primary responsibility would be to support the clinical side of the Lumeris through report development, reporting maintenance, and ad hoc analysis on the clinical systems and process.

Job Description:

Ideally the Sr. Analytics Consultant (Clinical) will report into our headquarters in STL Missouri. However, will review remote candidates on a case by case basis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop Production level reporting that will be used for health plan client reporting, Case Management, Utilization Management, Universe Reporting, and other supporting clinical processes
  • Research, analyze and identify opportunities for the success of internal & external customers by using relevant data sets within the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and JIVA's data store
  • Develop reporting to analyze data and identify trends in authorizations, denials, pended requests, turn-around times, and provider behaviors about referrals and authorization
  • Write and interpret complex SQL queries as well as ad-hoc data mining to drive business decisions across the business units.
  • Operate in a self-directed work environment to accomplish goals and initiatives
  • Work to implement customer dashboards and reporting to support tracking on programs and implementations
  • Perform various ad-hoc analysis to drive business decisions across all functional business groups
  • Analyze, manipulate and extract data from a variety of relational databases
  • Perform business testing on JIVA, Facets and other systems to ensure functionality after releases, version upgrades, and client implementations
  • Designs, develops, implements, and maintains software solutions using SQL Server.
  • Assesses business requirements, develops functional specifications, and develops data related solutions.
  • Writes and maintains stored procedures, functions, or queries meant to assist the organization in accessing and analyzing business data.
  • Develops standard and custom reports using SQL Server Reporting Services. Develops and implements ETL functions and processes for incoming and outgoing data transfer.
  • Documents workflow, enhancements, and QA processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or Healthcare; experience in clinical side of healthcare required.
  • Knowledgeable in Appeals, Grievances, Discharge reporting, Universe reporting, and HRAs
  • Experience with advanced SQL query writing (SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, etc) with strong knowledge in SQL programming (SQL Server knowledge Preferred)
  • Familiar with SSRS or another similar BI tool (Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Tableau, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large data and self-direct in analysis to reach recommendations and conclusions
  • Logical and systematic approach to problem solving, with the ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, make decisions, and take appropriate action
  • Experience in conceptualizing analytic projects end-to-end and ability to guide other analysts or business partners through the details of the project
  • Knowledge of and experience with care and utilization management.
  • Strong communication in order to gather requirements and present on data findings
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of and deep understanding of data model approaches to discuss areas of opportunity of each with our clients as well as data architects while creating business requirements.
  • Multi-Faceted: Track record in charting untested waters; need to possess conceptual skills to learn new technologies, and contribute to areas such as infrastructure, administration, and project management with ease
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in normal office working conditions.
