Position Overview

C&D Technologies/Trojan Battery Company is looking for an experienced and dynamic sales professional for the position of “Director, National Sales”. This is a key position within our company and is responsible for supporting established financial and volume goals, specifically within the Stationary vertical of the business. Key responsibilities include developing & directing a sales team, driving results with existing business through the development of new opportunities , participating in GTM strategies and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout North America. Product knowledge and exceptional sales skills are critical.

Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned including the following:

Influence, develop, and empower employees and peers to achieve sales objectives with team approach.

Meet or exceed all sales goals assigned by C&D / Trojan, achieve quarterly sales and profitability quota.

Collaboratively work with each market segment leader to optimize sales development efforts, including penetration strategy for the UPS / Datacenter, Telecom / Cable, and Energy & Infrastructure market segments.

Direct “hunting” resource allocation and budgets to achieve company goals

Work closely with market segment leaders, within the matrix structure

Manage the Regional Sales Representative team to grow C&D/Trojan market share within the assigned territory of each stationary market segment.

Leverage regional customer and account lists for developing plans to meet sales targets and quotas for each Regional Sales Representative.

Lead efforts to remove barriers that hinder successful sales performance, help set appropriate inventory levels and drive efficiencies to meet customer requirements.

Seek and develop new markets and new opportunities within the UPS / Datacenter, Telecom, and Energy & Infrastructure market segment for C&D/Trojan products and services.

Identify and develop strategic relationships with partners and potential customers

Develop a pipeline of new customers through direct or indirect customer contact and prospecting

Respond to customer inquiries regarding the products, conducting demonstrations, and explaining product benefits

Provide customers with face to face meetings, training sessions, follow-up communication, and quarterly business reviews.

Analyze sales statistics and prepare reports that support each phase of the sales process

Ensures critical customer deadlines are met

Reports sales results to management

Handle administrative duties such as: filing expense accounts, scheduling appointments, and making travel plans

Make sale calls and visits, facilitate providing meeting reports. This is a true player / coach role

Develop credibility and build relationships with fellow employees, peers, and clients

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product features and benefits

Guide customers through the sales process from application to activation

Strictly adhere to all company policies and procedures

Basic Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Enthusiastic team player with a desire to succeed and produce meaningful results

Must have a “Can Do” attitude and positive approach to problem solving

Experience with engaging “C” level clients, develop high level executive relationships for partnerships

Goal-oriented, persuasive, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team to implement business development initiatives.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software

Strong presentation and negotiation skills, analytical ability, managerial ability and professionalism.

Must have a good driving record

Required Qualifications/Experience

Proven track record of sales success including managing large sales teams

Bachelor’s degree in technical, financial or marketing field. MBA preferred

10+ years of sale experience and at least 5 years of management experience

Ability to delegate and build a cohesive team

Must be able to think strategically and financially

Industry knowledge and experience a plus

Availability to travel (from 50% up to 80%)

Proven ability to negotiate successfully with internal and external parties

Experience in facilitating SalesForce.com a benefit

Proficient in English, bilingual a plus
