population.About the Position:Located in Clearwater, FL and
reporting to the CEO & President, as well as Primerica's General
Counsel, the Chief Business Counsel will be a key member of the
executive leadership team, with significant impact on
decision-making. The ideal candidate will ensure the company
operates within the law, has a pragmatic hands-on approach to
dealing with legal issues and serves as an effective guardian of
the organization. You will identify and analyze legal issues,
negotiate and draft key documents, present clear recommendations to
top management both at e-TeleQuote and Primerica, and ensure legal
compliance. The position requires a broad understanding of legal
and compliance matters as they related to marketing plans to
Medicare beneficiaries.
Requirements:
Tasks and ResponsibilitiesServe as key legal advisor in providing
both legal advice and business counsel to management across a range
of mattersOversee the delivery of legal services and resources to
accomplish organizational goals, strategies, and priorities,
including resources at the Parent Company Lead, engage, develop,
motivate, and drive performance of legal and compliance teams
including Quality Assurance and LicensingCreate and drive internal
best practices and associated trainingAnticipate and mitigate
potential legal problems within the organization and develop
strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of
riskDevelop the organization's policies on industry-specific issues
or regulatory affairsProactively anticipate potential risks and
implement mitigation strategiesCoordinate complex litigation
matters with Primerica's legal department and direction Negotiate,
draft, and enforce agreements and other legal documents to ensure
the company's full legal rights are protected Provide clarification
to the organization regarding legal language or specifications,
particularly as it relates to the sector Maintain proper
organizational interactions with the relevant country, local,
state, and federal governmental bodies, legislatures, and the
community at largeManage and coordinate with external legal
advisorsWork in partnership with the Office of General Counsel at
the parent company and other legal teammates to coordinate efforts
and achieve company-wide legal objectives.Supervisory
Responsibilities:Directly supervises employees. Carries out
supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies,
the Code of Ethical Business Conduct, and applicable
laws.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training
employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising
performance; rewarding and managing employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problems.Skills/Experience:Minimum 10
years' experience required, with at least 5 years as in-house Legal
Counsel within a health insurance carriers Medicare business or
related broker, or with a governing regulatory agency, with
experience leading a legal team preferredDemonstrated ability to
support and coordinate litigation requiredExpertise in commercial
transactions and contract law requiredMeaningful experience in two
or more of the following: health care regulatory laws, Section 1557
of the Affordable Care Act; state law related to healthcare
licensing; Medicare Conditions of Participation and Conditions for
Coverage; EMTALA; and HIPAAIn-depth knowledge in the areas of
drafting and negotiating contracts, technology licensing, corporate
and commercial law, corporate organization, Medicare fraud and
abuse, and health care.Knowledge of state and federal CMS (Centers
for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulatory compliance matters.
High degree of professional ethics and integrity requiredSound
judgment and ability to analyze situations and information
requiredOutstanding communication skills requiredPublic company
experiences preferredExperience with contract life cycle management
tools is a plusDemonstrated leadership as a Doer and hands-on
leader; a player/coach for the team with a passion for learning and

school and licensed to practice law in at least one state in the
United States with a minimum of 10 years of applicable in-house,
private practice or regulatory experience.Physical
