Job DescriptionOverviewTampa Microwave is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Manpack & Fly Away satellite terminals designed and built for the expeditionary user community to guarantee communications connectivity in the most austere environments. Tampa Microwave primarily serves Federal and Department of Defense markets.We currently have an opening for an Engineering RF Lab Technician in our Clearwater, FL location. The primary function of this position is to operate, test and troubleshoot certain RF/electrical components and subassemblies used in circuit cards, subassemblies and communication modules within Engineering Lab. This position will report to the Engineering team.   • 9/80 Work Schedule (every other Friday off).Responsibilities:
    • Experience working in an electronics company that performs design, assembly, test and troubleshooting on electronic systems, like: analog & digital circuits and radio frequency (RF) modules.
    • Experience using and operating RF & electronic test equipment to test, evaluate and troubleshoot RF/electronic circuits and subassemblies, like: Signal generators, oscilloscopes, signal & vector analyzers, DC power supplies, etc.
    • Use engineering circuit schematics and mechanical drawings to assemble, test and evaluate prototype RF and electronic circuits and mechanical parts for new and modified products. Skills involved: soldering mall electronic circuit parts onto PCBs, wiring to electrical circuits, mechanical assembly of internal components into modules, and fabrication of electrical cables onto multi-pin electrical connectors. Expertise with all common hand & assembly tools to perform these work tasks is required.
    • Perform tests on analog, digital and RF electronic assemblies and systems to characterize performance, uncover specification deficiencies and repair damaged circuitry. Must be intimately familiar with operation of standard electronic test equipment. Must be able to plan, instrument and perform detailed performance tests, record data and test details in a laboratory notebook.
    • Instrument electronic systems and characterize performance of modules & products over the full military-type environmental conditions, like: temperature tests, EMI/EMC tests, over-the-air satellite tests, etc.
    • Coordinate with engineering and production personnel to correct drawing errors and producibility issues. Read and redline developmental drawings to reflect the actual configuration or reworked electronic & mechanical assemblies.
    • Design and fabricate test fixtures, assembly fixtures and tools designed to facilitate fabrication and test of electronic modules or systems.
    • Maintain and organize test equipment and test accessories in Engineering Lab.
    • Exhibit the following personal characteristics: superior communication skills, sound judgment and effective listening techniques.

      • U.S. Citizenship Required
      • Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Level Security Clearance upon hire as required
      • Experience: 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in an electronics company that performs design, assembly, test and troubleshooting of electronics systems including analog & digital and radio frequency (RF) circuits & modules.
      • Skills: Good hand-to-eye coordination for install/replacement of small electronic, RF and mechanical parts installed on PCBs, subassemblies and modules. Certified soldering skills / certificate is a plus.
      • Education: High School diploma or equivalency required. Two-year technical school degree or equivalent military schooling in electronics operation, repair and test is preferred.
      • Physical requirements: Some travel required. Must be able to lift objects of up to 50 lbs.
      • Excellent verbal and written communications – Fluent in English.
